There are several factors that can lead to the formation of bunions. They tend to be more common in women, but also affect men. Some people are more genetically predisposed to bunions, so if you have family members with the condition, you may have a higher risk of developing one as well. How are Bunions Treated?

If conservative treatments don't work or there is damage to the joint, a podiatrist may recommend surgical treatment to remove damaged bone and tissue or to help realign the joint.
